It is an honor designing jewelry
that become an intimate part
of people's lives.
My journey in gems began as a creative writing student at Columbia University when I was hired to translate a gemology textbook from Mandarin to English. Fascinated, I soon pursued a Graduate Gemology diploma at GIA where I found myself daydreaming about jewelry even as I studied the scientific properties of gemstones. I began designing pieces with the help of a local jeweler. To my delight, my friend wore my first designed set for her wedding.
Seeing how beautiful and glowing my friend looked on her wedding day encouraged me to continue creating. I also became more deeply immersed in the gem world by becoming a senior copywriter at GIA. My work there has given me a multi-faceted understanding of gems and an appreciation of the people who mine them, which have deepened my love and passion for jewelry.

My First Design
My brother gave me the funds to create my first design, since he knew I felt hesitant about getting started. This "budding romance" rosebud ring marks the start of my journey in design. It features a pink freshwater pearl wrapped in melee diamonds set with a pink sapphire on top.
